Our Commitment to the Community

It takes a community-wide effort to fight cancer and create a world where those touched by it can live more productive, more satisfying lives. Care providers, research institutions, and biotech companies like CTI, service organizations and advocacy groups, donors, and volunteers are part of this community.

Then there are the real heroes, the patients themselves – especially those who participate in clinical trials – along with the families and friends who support them.

This community network is critical to the progress CTI has made and to our continuing work toward making cancer more treatable. We look forward to the day when our vision of improving cancer treatment is a reality.

A Community-Wide Effort to Fight Cancer

Our Community Time Investement Benefit
Any regular, full-time employee may receive up to eight hours of paid time off per calendar year for pre-approved volunteer work. The goal of this program is to enhance our employees’ sense of social responsibility and community spirit. This is a great opportunity for employees to contribute toward the quality of life where we live and work.

Light The Night is an annual Society fundraiser. It’s the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of patients and their families. More than 50 of our employees, friends, and family participated in the September 2007 event and raised more than $10,000. We've participated in this local walk each year since 2000 and are proud to be a local sponsor.

Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research
Despite gray skies and rain, more than 40 of our staff, friends, and family participated in the July 2007 Swedish SummeRun to benefit ovarian cancer research.

Gilda's Club
We have supported Gilda's Club at the national level and locally, working with Gilda's Club Seattle. We're fortunate to have this resource in our community—men, women, and children living with cancer and their families and friends join with others to build emotional and social support as a supplement to medical care.

Ronald McDonald House Charities
Once each quarter, our Seattle employees plan, prepare, and serve dinner for families staying at the Seattle Ronald McDonald House during their child's treatment for cancer or other serious illness. We've been doing this for years. It's one of the ways we contribute to the community network fighting cancer.
